Associate Executive Director of Children and Family Programs

Location: Rochester, NY 14618

The Associate Executive Director leads the development and execution of the JCC strategic vision for the organization’s Children and Family Programming. The successful candidate will create alignment across our programs to ensure practices and services are consistent, collaborative and engaging for the JCC community. The candidate will have an understanding for and appreciation of Jewish culture, and an elevated level of interest in increasing the identification of the JCC as an important hub for dynamic Jewish Life in Rochester.

The Associate Executive Director role is an entrepreneurial position for a charismatic leader to leverage their background as an innovator in program development and implementation. As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, reporting to the CEO, the Associate Executive Director works closely with senior leadership and program staff to articulate and carry out strategic initiatives and develop high performing teams to take us to the next level.
The Associate Executive Director manages and guides the following individuals and their teams: Director of Early Childhood Education, Director of School Age Care and Day Camp, and Director of Family Engagement.

Programmatic
• A background in Jewish Identity building
• Glean insight and develop meaningful programs and services
• Develop, implement and manage effective internal operational systems for the Licensed Childcare, Education and Family Engagement programs
• Ensure effective roll out, implementation and evaluation of new programs and initiatives
• Contribute to the grant writing and reporting process
• Present programmatic elements in a compelling manner to prospective funders and other supporters
• Analyze internal reports to evaluate program effectiveness with an outcome-based approach to ensure the agency’s ability to anticipate and effectively respond to changing market needs
• In collaboration with program leadership, plan and deliver safety and compliance initiatives for staff, children, and families including procedures for emergency response drills, ensuring compliance with all NYS regulations.
• Collaborate with senior leadership team to implement special projects aimed at increasing program and organizational capacity
• Form community strategic partnerships to expand programming

Leadership
• Foster a team-oriented, supportive, accountable work environment
• Oversee program budgets and support program directors to develop and manage their team budgets
• Oversee development and implementation of strategy for all programs
• Work with program leadership to develop and evaluate program strategies and goals
• Engage and maintain positive professional relationships with NYS OCFS, DOH and ACA representatives.
• Effectively manage committees of lay leaders.

Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Human Service, related area or its equivalent. Master’s degree preferred.

Experience:
• Minimum of five years’ experience building and managing high performing teams preferably in a not for profit, childcare or school setting.
• Ten or more years’ experience with program creation, project management, childcare or multiple program management

• An organized strategic thinker who is comfortable with oversight and project management and holds a high attention to detail
• Demonstrable knowledge in conflict resolution and restorative practices
• A self-starter with strong problem-solving skills
• Ability to effectively communicate and build relationships with a variety of constituents including JCC members, families, children, staff and volunteers.
• Ability to manage and balance multiple projects
• Strong skill set with Microsoft Suite.
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills
